ようやく見てきた。
子供のころから妖怪も鬼太郎も大好きで、小学館の妖怪シリーズ（鬼太郎大百科とか妖怪大図解とかのアレ）を読み込み、アニメ鬼太郎（3期）も夢中で見て、夏休みのプールには下駄履きで通い、長じてからは水木しげる漫画大全集ももちろん買ったくらいのファンにもかかわらず、ずいぶん遅くなってしまった。
鬼太郎・目玉のおやじ・猫娘・ねずみ男たちがアニメ6期と同じキャラクターというだけでなく、人間批判を強めた物語の精神がアニメ6期としっかりつながっている。しかしここまでつらい話になっているとは思わなかった。
わたしより先にお友達と見ていた子供に「こんなにつらいなんて、先に言ってよ～」と訴えたら、「そうでしょうそうでしょう、つらかったねえ」と慰められたのだが、同じ思いを母にも味合わせて、じゃなくて共有できたという、してやったりのニヤニヤ顔がなんとも。
以下ネタバレ。
個人的にいちばん熱かったのは、霊毛ちゃんちゃんこ爆誕のシーン。
あのちゃんちゃんこがご先祖様の霊毛でできているというのはみんな知っていることだが、いつ、誰が、どのようにして作ったのか、という詳細は今まで明かされていなかったと思う。
それが本作で明かされた。そしてこれが「ゲゲゲの謎」につながるのだ。
幽霊族たちは、人間の欲に虐げられ、搾取され続けて、もはやまともに生き残っているのは鬼太郎の父（ゲゲ郎）のみ。かろうじて生き残っている鬼太郎の母を助けようと、ゲゲ郎は怨念渦巻く敵の本丸に、相棒・水木と共に乗り込む。絶体絶命のピンチのそのとき、母の胎内で鬼太郎が泣き声を上げるのだ。
その声に呼応して、もはや屍と成り果てていた無数の幽霊族たちが思いを込めた霊毛を放ち、編み上げられたちゃんちゃんこがゲゲ郎を守る。鬼太郎に受け継がれたちゃんちゃんこはこうして生まれたのだ！
なぜ鬼太郎一族に幽霊族たちの思いが託され、彼らがヒーローになったのか。まさしくゲゲゲの謎そのものではないか。
それにしても、横溝正史や江戸川乱歩はもちろん、最近であれば『マイホームヒーロー』など、隔絶されたいわゆる「因習村」を舞台にした作品は数多くあるが、本作ほど救いのないものも珍しい。
時弥くんは最後に少し浮かばれたようだったが、沙代ちゃんは……。あれだけの人を殺した報いといえばそれまでだが、あまりにもつらい最期だった。
以下小ネタ感想。
・本作の水木には腕がある。腕がある水木サン自体は、水木しげるの心象風景として、たとえばコミック『昭和史』などにもときどき登場するから、本作の水木もまた、水木しげるの心象風景という設定なのだろう。しばしば登場する戦争中のエピソードは、水木しげるが繰り返し語ったものとほぼ同じだ。
・水木が、子守のばあさんに妖怪の話をよく聞いていたと語るシーンもあった。のんのんばあという名前こそ出なくても、観客の多くが彼女の顔を思い浮かべただろう。
ゲゲ郎と水木が墓場で酒を酌み交わしているとき、ふわふわと青い炎の妖怪が彼らのもとに降りてきた。あっ、つるべ火、と思ったとき、水木も「つるべ火……」とつぶやいた。水木はちゃんと「知っている」のである。ここでも少し胸が熱くなった。
・水木とゲゲ郎が出会った当初、水木がゲゲ郎との約束を破ったシーンがあった。人間にだまされたことを知ったゲゲ郎の怒り方が鬼太郎のそれとそっくりで、これは「幽霊電車」か「地獄流し」の刑まったなしなのでは、とヒヤヒヤしながら見ていたが、結局ゲゲ郎は、自分の身代わりに水木を座敷牢に押し込むくらいで済ませてやっていた。やさしい。
・鬼太郎といえば体内電気である。体内で電気を発生させ、それを敵に流して倒すのだ。
ゲゲ郎が最初に狂骨に飲み込まれたときはなすすべもなく力を奪われてしまい、あれっゲゲ郎は体内電気使えないのかな、と思ったのだが、次に飲み込まれたとき、ゲゲ郎は自らの胸に手を当てて電気を発生させて逃れた。
鬼太郎の解剖図によれば、鬼太郎の体内にある「発電袋」という器官が体内電気の源なので、父であるゲゲ郎の体内にも同じものがあったのだろう。ゲゲ郎はそれを自分で覚醒させたのだろうか。
・エンディングテーマは、『カランコロンの歌』がモチーフだった。大好きな歌だ。ご存じない方はググってみてください。
・声優さんたち最高でした。関俊彦さんが、少し声を高めに演じていらしたのも、いずれ目玉になる感じがしてよかった。そしてとにかくかっこよかった。さらに、鬼太郎と鬼太郎の母の両方を演じた沢城みゆきさんが素敵でした。
